Hydroxychloro-quine Used at Henry Ford Med Centers
FDA approves hydroxychloroquine as a new drug application to address COVID-19 related shortage despite prior FDA approval in 1955Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are being tested in an international trial launched by WHO to find potential therapies for the disease. However, widely reported comments from President Donald Trump championing its use as a treatment for COVID-19, despite the current lack of clinical trial results, have triggered a surge in demand for the drugs. On March 28, the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization, which allowed hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine products that were donated to the SNS to be distributed and used for adolescent and adult patients hospitalized with COVID-19 who cannot be part of a clinical trial. According to HHS, 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate have been donated to the Strategic National Stockpile by Sandoz, the genetics and biosimilars division of Novartis, and Bayer Pharmaceuticals donated 1 million doses of chloroquine phosphate to the national stockpile. The drugs have been provided for possible use in treating patients hospitalized with COVID-19, or for use in clinical trials, the department said. Dr. Rosen: It looks like the FDA is coming to the defense of the off-label use of hydroxychloroquine. But they are doing it in a politically safe aversion to Dr. Fauci who condemned its use. It has been approved since April 5, 1955. Dr. Edwards: I think it’s an obvious hostility to our president. But the real question is why are they preventing physicians from using it off label when it has been moderately successful at Henry Ford Health Systems and has been the common practice for ever. Dr. Milton: And even more devastating question is why are the Liberal Left not concerned about saving human lives? Dr. Ruth: I don’t have any Covid Patients but I don’t see how they could interfere with my writing an order should I have a Covid patient. Dr. Yancy: I think the anti-Trump people are interfering with the practice of medicine through the pharmacies. But I haven’t seen any mention of a “real” law that would prevent you from writing the order. Dr. Sam: But our intrusive government can prevent the order or the prescription to be filled. Dr. Dave: On what basis? Dr. Sam: Our government is being run by the administrative state. Dr. Dave: But they have paralyzed our chief administrator, haven’t they? Dr. Rosen: I think we better stop this discussion before they reach into our discussion. Dr. Edwards: There are so many Marxists in our government now, but since we’re not the Marxist’s inner circle we may be targeted. Dr. Sam: And with more than 50 unexplained deaths in DC, that could prove to be lethal. Read more . . .
